Bidvest Magnum's stated intention in terms of its Vision and mission includes our objective to have a reputation for ethical and professional standards. The achievement of ethical and professional standards requires a comprehensive approach which includes compliance to general as well as Private Security Sector Specific Laws and Regulations, participating in Private Security Sector Organisations as well as maintaining professional standards such as ISO accreditation.
In an environment in which numerous service providers are non compliant and often guilty of unethical behaviour towards clients and security officers in particular, our objective to have a reputation for ethical and professional standards is often difficult to achieve and maintain within the context of delivering sustainable value. Our commitment remains unwavering although the task is often complex and daunting. Like most organisations we have had instances where certain practices and actions by individuals resulted in non compliance, but these are limited mainly due to our sustained and planned approach of eradicating such practices. Our quest to achieve the stated intention in our vision statement includes the appointment of a Compliance Director, the implementation of policies, processes, practices, procedures, monitoring and auditing systems, ISO accreditation as well as devolved responsibility.
As part of the Bidvest group of Companies we are regularly audited by external auditors and participate in a number of corporate governance and other surveys and reports.
We actively participate in Private Security Sector Organisations such as the Security Industry Alliance (SIA), Security Services Employers Organisation (SSEO) and the Security Association of South Africa (SASA), so as to be at the cutting edge of developments in our market and to positively influence the perception of our industry as well as setting professional standards.
Transformation is a strategic imperative for Bidvest Magnum and is driven by our Transformation Director. A broad strategic approach towards transformation has been undertaken by the organization. This includes our continual focus on improving our Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) rating, Employment Equity planning and reporting as well as Skills Development programmes.
Private Security Sector Specific Laws and Regulations
Over and above laws that govern all organizations within South Africa such as the Companies Act, Income Tax Act and Labour Relations Act to name a few, there are specific laws and regulations that specifically apply to the Private Security Industry within which we operate.

Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE)
The BBBEE Act establishes a legislative framework for the promotion of black economic empowerment which is driven through codes of good practice on black economic empowerment.
Skills Development
In a highly regulated industry such as Private Security, the ability to differentiate and gain competitive advantage is impaired. One area where competitive advantage can be obtained is through better training. Better training allows a Company to deliver a non comparable service at a competitive price and thereby providing better value to all stakeholders.
